The overview
About Buho Rock
Buho Rock is a coral-rock outcrop shaped like a small ship docked against the cliffs of Western Poblacion, on Poro's northern coastline. Rather than a beach, it offers an elevated platform ringed with white balustrades, a viewing deck over the open sea, and two jump-off points — an 18-foot ledge for first-timers and a 40-foot platform for the more adventurous — both landing in clear water deep enough on a high tide. About 60 steps lead down from the entrance to the rock itself. Besides cliff jumping, visitors swim, snorkel around the base, and use a rock slide that drops straight into the sea; local lifeguards are usually on hand and will jump alongside nervous first-timers. Long passages reportedly run beneath Buho Rock and are said locally to connect toward Tangub Cave inland, though this stretch isn't developed for public exploration. It's one of Poro's most photographed and most visited spots, especially with day-trippers hopping between Camotes' cliffs and beaches, and it gets busy on weekends and holidays.
