The overview
About Archbishop Teofilo Camomot Shrine (Domus Teofilo)
The Archbishop Teofilo Camomot Shrine, known locally as Domus Teofilo or the House of Teofilo, stands in Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City, on land owned by the Daughters of Saint Teresa, the religious congregation the archbishop founded in 1959. The shrine honors Most Rev. Teofilo Bastida Camomot, a former Archbishop of Cebu born in Barangay Cogon, Carcar, in 1914, whose cause for sainthood is under formal consideration by the Catholic Church. The complex includes a chapel for prayer and reflection along with a small museum displaying the archbishop's personal belongings, including a bed and documents chronicling his decades of pastoral service. An adjoining chapel, St. Teresa de Avila, can accommodate large numbers of pilgrims who travel here seeking intercession, particularly around the anniversary of his death. The shrine draws a steady stream of devotees and curious visitors alike, making it both a pilgrimage site and a window into a significant figure of 20th-century Cebuano Catholic history. The atmosphere is quiet and devotional rather than touristic.
