The overview
About Century-Old Acacia Tree
Standing in the uplands of Barangay Buenavista in Tudela, this massive acacia tree is believed to be over a hundred years old, one of a handful of century-old acacia, lomboy, and bangcal trees still standing in the Poro-Tudela area of the Camotes Islands. The tree's canopy is large enough to shade a wide stretch of ground, with a thick trunk, sprawling exposed roots, and smaller plants and vines growing along its branches. It sits beside a paved road passable by car, near the boundary between Poro and Tudela, with views down toward the coastline and the Camotes Sea from the surrounding high ground. Locals often stop here to rest in the shade. There are no formal visitor facilities at the site. Trees like this one have faced pressure in recent years from road-widening and clearing proposals in the wider Poro area, which makes it as much a conservation talking point as a scenic stop.
