The overview
About Panganuron Falls
Panganuron Falls and its neighbor Busay Falls sit in the hills of Barangay Libertad (locally spelled "Libertas"), on Poro's more forested southern side. Busay is the more accessible of the two — a roughly 10-minute trek through forest and across shallow river crossings leads to a small waterfall with a cave above its first tier and a natural pool for swimming. Panganuron lies deeper in and takes about 30 minutes to reach, rewarding the extra effort with clearer, cooler water in a quieter setting. Both falls are modest in scale compared to Cebu's mainland waterfalls, and Busay in particular took damage from a 2023 landslide that altered its flow and left the area looking rougher than in older photos — worth knowing before setting expectations. Together they still make a worthwhile half-day add-on for visitors already exploring Poro's caves and beaches, especially those wanting a quieter, less-visited alternative to the more famous falls on mainland Cebu. A local guide from the barangay can point out the safer trail and river-crossing points, especially useful after rain.
