The overview

About Pityak Falls

Pityak Falls is a rock-pool waterfall in Barangay Kanghalo, Dumanjug, right along the boundary with neighboring Barangay Tubod-Duguan. The overlapping boundary is the reason the falls goes by two names locally, Pityak and Tubod-Duguan Falls, depending on which side of the barangay line residents identify with. The falls tumble over a series of natural rock pools of different depths and sizes, shaped over time into smooth basins and channels, with a second, smaller waterfall a few hundred meters upstream. A natural rock spillway runs alongside the main drop and functions as a walking path, making it easier to move between the pools than at many undeveloped falls. Water volume swings noticeably with the season, running low and calm in summer and swelling into a much deeper, faster flow during the rainy months. The site has no developed facilities, so visitors bring their own food and gear. The approach road is loose gravel in places, so caution is needed on the habal-habal ride in.
