The overview
About Sibonga Heritage Park
Sibonga Heritage Park is the old town plaza fronting the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church, hemmed in by the Sibonga Municipal Hall and Sibonga National High School. Its centerpiece is a kiosk built in 1910, a Spanish-colonial-era gathering pavilion that has hosted town assemblies, band performances, and civic events for over a century. In 1924, General Emilio Aguinaldo visited the town to help establish the Spanish-Filipino War Veterans Association and delivered a speech from the plaza, a moment locals still point to as the park's historical high point. Today the park functions as Sibonga's civic heart, with tree-lined walkways, benches, and open lawn framed by the church's Gothic facade on one side and government buildings on the other. It's a low-key stop rather than a major attraction, best combined with a church visit since the two sites sit side by side. The park is unfenced and open to the public at all hours, making it a natural rest stop for travelers passing through on the coastal route toward Argao, Oslob, or Bato.
