The overview
About Tinubdan Falls
Tinubdan Falls is a multi-tiered waterfall in the uplands of Barangay Tabili, its name derived from the Cebuano word for "source." The falls drop through a series of cascades, roughly six by most accounts, before converging into two catch basins at the base, the first around six feet deep and the second about three feet, forming a natural swimming area set in dense jungle. The site drew national attention in September 2021 when a sudden flashflood swept away visitors, leaving two confirmed dead, prompting local authorities to temporarily close the falls to the public. More recent visitor accounts describe the falls as accessible again, though conditions and local rules can change without notice, especially around rainfall. Because of that history, this is a site where weather awareness matters more than usual: the jungle trail itself is short and easy, but the basins can rise fast during or after rain upstream, even when it looks clear at the falls.
