Bakhaw Beach
An undeveloped, quiet white-sand beach on Pacijan's northwestern coast with swimmable water close to shore.
The overview
About Bakhaw Beach
Bakhaw Beach is an undeveloped stretch of white sand on the northwestern coast of Pacijan Island, in Barangay Esperanza. It runs several hundred meters along the shoreline, backed by coconut palms and a scattering of nipa huts, with only a small convenience store as commercial infrastructure. Unlike Santiago Bay, Bakhaw's shoreline is not shallow, and the water deepens close enough to shore that swimming is possible almost immediately rather than requiring a long walk out. The access road in from the main island route is narrow and partly unpaved, which has kept the beach quieter and less visited than San Francisco's more accessible spots. Two more secluded beaches, Taliwangbas and Esperanza, sit just north along the same stretch of coast, and together they form a quieter alternative to the more commercialized beaches closer to town.
What makes it worth it
Highlights
- Long undeveloped white-sand stretch
- Deep-enough water for swimming near shore
- Coconut-lined coastline
- Few visitors, minimal commercialization
- Nipa hut cottages
- Near Taliwangbas and Esperanza beaches
- 1 Bring your own food and drinking water since facilities are minimal. The access road is rough, so a habal-habal handles it better than a car. Go early to have the beach largely to yourself. Location approximate — confirm on arrival.

How to get there
From Cebu City, van/bus to Danao City (about 1-1.5 hours), then ferry to Consuelo Port, San Francisco (about 2 hours). From the port, a habal-habal to Barangay Esperanza takes about 30-35 minutes over a partly unpaved road.
