The overview
About Hinagdanan Beach (Km-47)
Hinagdanan Beach, better known to locals and travelers simply as "KM 47," sits at the foot of a roadside cliff in Barangay Binungculan. The nickname comes from the DPWH kilometer marker along the highway noting the distance from Cebu City, since the resort itself carries no signage or branding visible from the road. The name "hinagdanan" roughly translates to "stairs" in Cebuano, referring to the stairway that the owning family carved into the cliffside over the years to connect the road above to the cove below; the beach opened to the public in 1957. There is no white sand here, but the water is clear and the cove is tucked out of sight of the highway, giving it a secluded feel unusual for a roadside spot. It's a modest, family-run setup best suited to a simple swim and a few hours of relaxation rather than a full resort experience, and its low entrance fee keeps it a popular stop for locals passing along the northern coastal route.
