About Nonoc Cave

Nonoc Cave (also referred to locally as Nono Cave) sits in the hills of Barangay Cadaruhan, about 83 kilometers north of Cebu City. It is one of Borbon's least developed attractions, with natural rock formations that remain largely untouched and no formal tourism infrastructure built around it. Local accounts say the cave served as a hideout for residents during World War II, when Japanese forces occupied parts of northern Cebu, adding a layer of wartime history to the site. Today it functions mainly as a shady rest stop and swimming spot for picnickers and bathers from nearby barangays, rather than a mapped spelunking circuit. Because the cave is unmarked and largely unexplored even by locals, it is best visited with a resident guide who knows the terrain and entry points. Facilities are minimal to nonexistent, so this is a destination for visitors comfortable with a rustic, off-the-beaten-path experience.
