The overview
About Tagaytay Ridge (Snake Road)
Tagaytay Ridge is a stretch of winding road cut along a hill ridge in Sitio Sun-ok, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, just behind SM Consolacion mall. Tagaytay is simply the Cebuano word for ridge, and locals also call the spot Snake Road for the way the pavement curves along the hilltop, or the Great Wall, Grand Canyon, Roller Coaster Hill, and Dragon's Back for the exposed drops and rolling elevation on either side. The road offers open views over Consolacion and the surrounding hills of northern Cebu, with the terrain falling away steeply on both sides in places, giving it the canyon-like look that earns its nicknames. It has become a spot for casual trekking, jogging, and cycling, particularly popular in the early morning or late afternoon when the light and temperature are more forgiving. Because it sits so close to SM Consolacion, the ridge is an easy add-on for anyone already in the area, requiring no special transport beyond reaching the mall itself before continuing on foot or by habal-habal into Sun-ok.
