The overview

About Timubo Cave

Timubo Cave is a small two-chamber cave in Barangay Sonog, San Francisco, opening out of a farm field planted with corn, coconut, and banana. The entrance is narrow and low, forcing visitors to stoop for the first couple of meters before concrete steps and a handrail lead down about 20 meters to the cave's subterranean pool. The main pool is around 2 meters deep, fed by a natural spring, and stays cool and clear year-round. Electric lighting has been installed along the passage, and the cave is a working water source for the surrounding community as well as a swimming spot for locals and visitors alike. Timubo is smaller and less elaborate than Camotes' better-known crystal caves, but its easy access and refreshing pool make it a popular stop when paired with a Lake Danao visit, since the two sit only a short ride apart in the island's interior.
