You can’t, not sensibly — but you can chain three at a time if you pick the right cluster. Which South Cebu Falls Actually Cluster Together?

Two clusters make sense as a single day: Samboan (Dao, Aguinid, Binalayan) and the Alegria–Ginatilan corridor (Cambais, Montpellier, Inambakan). Everything else is really its own destination. The reason it works this way comes down to the map: the coastal highway south of Cebu City runs through Moalboal, Badian, Alegria, Malabuyoc, Ginatilan, then Samboan, in that order, before curling around to Santander at the southern tip. Falls in the same town are a 5–20 minute hop apart. Falls in neighboring towns are a 20–45 minute drive apart. Falls two or three towns apart eat your whole day just in transfers, before you’ve hiked or swum anywhere.

That’s why Dao, Aguinid, and Binalayan work so well together — they’re all inside Samboan, genuinely close, and locals treat “waterfall hopping in Samboan” as one outing. Cambais Falls and Montpellier Falls sit in Alegria (Montpellier right on the Alegria–Malabuyoc boundary), with Inambakan Falls one town further in Ginatilan — still close enough to string together with a rented scooter or a hired van for the day.

Route A: The Samboan Falls Circuit (Dao → Aguinid → Binalayan)

This is the tightest waterfall cluster in south Cebu — three falls inside one municipality, each a short ride from the last. Locals suggest starting with Dao Falls, then Aguinid, then Binalayan (or Dao, Binalayan, Aguinid if Aguinid’s crowds look bad first thing) — either order works since they form a loop rather than a straight line.

Aguinid is the standout of the three — a series of cascades you climb up through rather than just view, which is why its fee bundles full gear and two guides. Dao and Binalayan are simpler, cooler, and less crowded, good for cooling off after Aguinid’s climb. Between stops, a habal-habal driver based in Samboan town can cover all three for around ₱500–800 for the day (roughly US$8.60–13.80, often quoted for two riders) — negotiate the full circuit up front rather than paying per leg.

Getting to Samboan: the most budget option is a Ceres or Sunrays bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal on the Bato-via-Barili route, which runs through Moalboal, Badian, Alegria, Malabuyoc, and Ginatilan before reaching Samboan — about 5 hours and ₱175–230 (US$3–4) one-way. Leaving Cebu City by 4–5 AM gets you to Samboan town by breakfast time, with the whole day free for the falls. If you’re renting a car or private van instead, expect 3.5–4 hours of driving from Cebu City.

Route B: The Alegria–Ginatilan Corridor (Cambais → Montpellier → Inambakan)

This route works best if you’re already in Moalboal or Badian, since Alegria is the next town south of Kawasan Falls. It’s cheaper than the Samboan circuit and easier to bolt onto a Kawasan day, but it’s still three separate stops with real hiking and swimming at each.

Cambais Falls is the easy roadside stop — a quick swim, not much of a hike, and a natural place to break up the drive south from Badian. Montpellier is the wildcard: multiple recent reports describe it as free with just a 15-minute walk through coconut groves, though a local may offer to guide you for a tip. It sits right on the line between Alegria and Malabuyoc, so don’t be surprised if you see it labeled either way. Inambakan Falls, in Ginatilan, is the anchor of this route and deserves the most time — it’s multi-tiered, the entrance fee includes a life jacket, and the site is open strictly 6 AM–5 PM daily. A habal-habal from Ginatilan town proper out to Inambakan runs about ₱100.

Realistically, this corridor pairs well with a Kawasan Falls morning: swim at Kawasan Falls (₱200/person, ~US$3.45, for Level 1 access) early, then continue south through Alegria and into Ginatilan for the afternoon. Doing Kawasan plus all three of these falls in one day is a long day, but it’s doable if you start early and skip the Kawasan zipline or canyoneering add-ons.

Can You Combine Both Routes in One Day?

No — not realistically, and we’d rather tell you that than have you find out at 3 PM with two towns still to go. Samboan sits roughly 30–45 minutes past Ginatilan on the same coastal road, and each waterfall stop genuinely needs an hour or more once you count the hike in, the swim, and getting changed. Stack five falls across two municipalities and you’re looking at 8–10+ hours of combined driving and site time, on roads that are single-lane in places and slow after rain.

If you want both clusters, the honest move is to stay overnight in south Cebu — Moalboal, Badian, or Samboan town all work — and split the two circuits across two days: Alegria–Ginatilan corridor on day one (paired with Kawasan), Samboan circuit on day two. That also gives you slack for the inevitable rain delay or a fee dispute at one of the community-run sites.

How Do You Choose Between the Two Routes?

Pick Samboan if you want fewer, more dramatic falls and don’t mind the extra travel time; pick the Alegria–Ginatilan corridor if you’re already in Moalboal or Badian and want a cheaper, more casual add-on day. Aguinid’s climbable cascades are the single most photogenic stop on either route, but Samboan is genuinely far from Cebu City. South Cebu’s waterfalls get lumped together on “12 best falls in Cebu” lists as if they’re all next door to each other — they’re not. Treat any itinerary that promises five or six falls in one day with suspicion; either it’s cutting your time at each one to a rushed 20-minute photo stop, or it’s simply not accounting for the actual drive times along that coastal road. The two clusters in this guide (Samboan, and Alegria–Ginatilan) are the ones that genuinely work as a day, based on how close the falls actually sit to each other.

Go early — by mid-morning, community-run sites like Aguinid and Inambakan start filling with tour groups, and the parking areas (often just a dirt lot by the highway) get crowded. Rainy season (June–September) swells the falls dramatically but also makes the approach trails slick and occasionally forces a site closure for safety — check with a local contact or your habal-habal driver before committing to the drive.
