About Kawasan Falls

Kawasan Falls is the crown jewel of Badian and one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines. Located in Barangay Matutinao, this three-tiered waterfall system is renowned for its stunning turquoise waters that cascade into natural swimming pools surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The crystal-clear waters get their distinctive blue-green color from the limestone formations in the area. The first and main cascade stands at approximately 40 meters high and features the largest swimming area, complete with bamboo rafts that take visitors close to the base of the falls. The second level, about 20 meters high, offers a more peaceful experience with fewer crowds and can be reached via a short 10-minute trek upstream. The water originates from the Kabukalan Spring high in the mountains and flows through the Kawasan gorge before reaching the Matutinao River and eventually the Tanon Strait. The falls were temporarily closed in 2023 for environmental rehabilitation and reopened in October 2023 with new regulations to protect this natural treasure.
