About Saksak Cold Spring

Saksak Cold Spring is a natural freshwater spring tucked in Sitio Saksak, part of Barangay Daan-Lungsod in the upland interior of Alcoy. The spring feeds a series of pools with clear, cold water drawn from underground sources, a contrast to the warmer coastal water at Tingko Beach a few kilometers away. Visitors reach the spring on a rural trail that winds through farmland and coconut groves, often combined with a trek onward to Tingko Beach on the coast. The pools are shallow enough for wading and cooling off after the walk, and the setting stays largely undeveloped, without the crowds found at Cebu's better-known resorts. Basic cottages and rest areas have been put up by the community near the spring, and locals sometimes charge a small fee for cottage use even though there is no entrance fee for the spring itself. It remains one of the lesser-known stops in Alcoy, visited mostly by residents and a growing number of day-trippers exploring the town's inland barangays.

What makes it worth it

  • No entrance fee
  • Can be combined with a trek to Tingko Beach
  • Basic community-built cottages nearby

Tips for visitors
  1. 1 Wear trekking shoes since the trail crosses farmland and can get muddy after rain. Bring your own food, drinking water, and a dry bag for valuables since facilities are minimal.
