About Samboryo Peak

Samboryo Peak (also called Mt. Samboryo) is a hill along the Cebu Highlands Trail in the mountainous interior of Talisay City, within the Central Cebu Protected Landscape. The most common access point is near the Barangay Camp IV hall along Toledo-Tabunok Road, from which trails climb through grasslands, farmland, and forest patches shared with the neighboring towns of Toledo and Balamban. The hike to the peak's shoulder covers roughly 7-8 kilometers round trip over a mix of steep, loose-soil slopes and rocky, muddy stretches, crossing the upper Mananga River along the way. Hiking communities rate it a hard trail, usually tackled by experienced trekkers, sometimes as part of the longer multi-day Cebu Highlands Trail Segment 1B route between Tugop and Lutopan. Views along the route take in Manipis Road winding through the highlands and the surrounding grassland ridges of central-southern Cebu, making it a strenuous but rewarding day hike or overnight camping trip for hikers based in Metro Cebu.

Tips for Visitors

  1. 1 Hire a local guide from Barangay Camp IV, since trails are unmarked and cross private farmland in places. Wear trail shoes with good grip for the muddy, rocky sections and start early to avoid finishing in the dark. Bring your own water and food, as there are no stores along the route. How to Get There

From Cebu City, take a Talisay-bound jeepney or bus to Talisay proper (20-30 minutes), then a habal-habal up Toledo-Tabunok Road to Barangay Camp IV, where local guides can arrange the trek to the peak.
