San Narciso Parish Church
About San Narciso Parish Church
San Narciso Parish Church stands in the poblacion of Consolacion, a town that began as a Mandaue village once known as Kampi-ig before Augustinian Recollect friars organized it into its own parish on February 21, 1871. Construction of the church itself had already started in 1863, but the project dragged on for decades: the first structure, built of wood, nipa, and bamboo, was wrecked by a typhoon in 1888, and a rebuilt version was leveled by the 1892 earthquake. Divine Word Missionaries finally completed the present church after the Philippine Revolution, around the turn of the century. The land for the church was donated by Felipe Hatamosa, a Mandaue official who later became Consolacion's first mayor when the town regained its independence from Mandaue in 1920. Today the church, dedicated to San Narciso, remains the religious center of the town along Cebu North Road, with its feast celebrated every October 29. The building reflects the layered, often interrupted history typical of Cebu's older parish churches, rebuilt more than once after natural disasters before settling into its current form.

Tips for Visitors
- 1 Visit outside Mass hours if you want to look around quietly. Dress modestly, as with any active parish church. The feast of San Narciso on October 29 draws crowds, so expect a livelier but more crowded visit that week.
How to Get There
From Cebu City, take a jeepney or bus bound for Consolacion via Cebu North Road (20-30 minutes); the church sits in the poblacion right along the highway.
