The overview
About Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
The Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal sits on a hilltop in Barangay Lapaz, overlooking the North National Road and the rooftops of Bogo City below. Built starting in 1980 through funds raised by Bogo parishioners, it centers on a large Marian statue said to be among the biggest in Cebu, set within a grassy park at the summit. Reaching the shrine means climbing a stairway of more than 150 steps from the road. The first three steps represent the Holy Trinity, and the remaining steps are meant to correspond to the Hail Marys of the rosary's mysteries. A separate vehicle road also leads to the top for those who prefer not to climb, or who are unable to. At the summit, the open grounds offer a panoramic view over Bogo City toward the coast, along with steady hilltop breezes. The shrine draws both devotees and casual visitors, particularly around Marian feast days, and functions as one of the recognizable landmarks of the city.
