The overview

About Guiwanon Cold Spring

Guiwanon Cold Spring, now operating as Banyan Spring Resort, is a natural cold spring located right along the main highway in Barangay Maslog, on the way to Tabogon proper. The spring is fed by clear, bluish-green water and is divided into two connected pools: a shallow section suited for children and casual wading, and a deeper pool of about six feet favored by swimmers and cliff-jumpers. A large, old balete tree grows beside the deeper pool, its wide canopy shading swimmers from the midday sun and giving the spring its distinct, slightly wild character compared to more manicured resorts. Small stores near the entrance sell food and drinks, and basic cottages and changing rooms are available for a separate fee. The spring has long been a stopover for travelers heading to or from the northern Cebu towns, as well as a weekend destination for families from Tabogon and nearby municipalities. It currently operates on weekends only, so visits need to be timed around that schedule.
