Naukban Lagoon
A brackish inland lagoon in Barangay San Isidro tied to local enkanto folklore.
The overview
About Naukban Lagoon
Naukban Lagoon is a small brackish lagoon tucked inland in Barangay San Isidro, Pilar, where seawater and fresh groundwater meet in a pool ringed by mangrove trees and boulders. The mixed water supports a range of small aquatic life, and the surrounding vegetation blocks the wind, leaving the lagoon's blue-green surface notably still. Local folklore ties the lagoon to a pair of enkanto, or nature spirits: fishermen are said to whisper a request to the lagoon before casting a line, believing the catch depends on it. The lagoon has no gate, stores, or built facilities, and visitors reach it by a short walk off the main barangay road. It functions more as a quiet stop than a swimming destination for most visitors, valued for its calm setting and the folk story attached to it rather than for developed activities. Bring your own food and water, since San Isidro has no shops near the lagoon itself.
