Omagieca Obo-ob Mangrove Garden

About Omagieca Obo-ob Mangrove Garden
The Omagieca Obo-ob Mangrove Garden is a 100-hectare community-managed eco-park that showcases one of the most extensive mangrove forests in Bantayan Island. Located in Barangay Obo-ob, the garden is managed by OMAGIECA (Obo-ob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism Conservation Association), a local community organization dedicated to mangrove preservation and sustainable tourism. The park features an extensive network of elevated bamboo walkways that wind through the mangrove forest, allowing visitors to explore this unique ecosystem without disturbing the delicate environment. The walkways include several rest stops and photo spots, including the famous location where scenes from the 2016 Filipino romantic comedy film 'Camp Sawi' were filmed - leading to the area being popularly known as 'Camp Sawi.' At high tide, visitors can observe various fish species swimming among the mangrove roots, while low tide reveals crabs, mudskippers, and an abundance of bird species. The park represents a successful model of community-based ecotourism, where local residents benefit from tourism while actively protecting their natural heritage.
