When Is Sinulog 2027?

The grand parade is Sunday, January 17, 2027. Sinulog has one fixed rule: it always lands on the third Sunday of January, which is why the date isn’t the same every year. That rule played out exactly as expected in 2026 — January 1, 2026 was a Thursday, making the Sundays that January fall on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th, so the third Sunday was January 18. For 2027, January 1 is a Friday, putting the Sundays on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th — so the third Sunday, and the grand parade, is January 17, 2027. The eve events — the dawn fluvial procession and the afternoon solemn foot procession — always land on the Saturday immediately before, so expect those on January 16, 2027.

What Actually Happened at Sinulog 2026? (Recap)

Sinulog 2026’s grand parade ran on Sunday, January 18, with 37 competing contingents — 12 from out of town, 8 from Cebu’s cities and towns, and 17 from the Sinulog sa Dakbayan category — plus 3 guest performances, for 40 total acts dancing the carousel route into the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

• Crowd size: the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office estimated roughly 5.2 million spectators were in the downtown area by 6:17 p.m., within the festival’s Maximum Occupancy Limit.
• It ended early — deliberately. For the first time in Sinulog’s history, city officials planned the program to wrap before 8 p.m., aiming to reduce crowd fatigue and ease the exit crush. If organizers keep this approach, expect Sinulog 2027 to also close out in the early evening rather than running past dark.

The route is a downtown loop — the “carousel” — that starts and ends at the Cebu City Sports Center. It has run the same way for years:

CCSC → P. Del Rosario Street → Imus Avenue → General Maxilom Avenue (Mango Ave) → Fuente Osmeña Circle → Osmeña Boulevard → back to CCSC.

Contingents perform the two-step Sinulog shuffle along the full loop, competing for the day’s judging, which concentrates near the Osmeña Boulevard finish and the CCSC grandstands.
