The overview
About Osmeña Peak
Osmeña Peak, at roughly 1,013 meters above sea level, is the highest point in Cebu province. It sits in Barangay Mantalongon in the uplands of Dalaguete, part of the jagged Mantalungon mountain range, a cluster of grass-covered conical hills often compared to Bohol's Chocolate Hills for their unusual shape. From the jump-off, a short climb of about 20-30 minutes follows a rocky ridge trail, with a few sections requiring scrambling over sharp, exposed rock. From the summit, hikers get a 360-degree view stretching over southern Cebu's coastline, Badian Island, the Tañon Strait, and on clear days the outline of Negros island. Sunrise and sunset are both popular times to visit, and camping is allowed near the summit. The cool mountain air is a contrast to lowland Cebu, and the surrounding Mantalongon area, nicknamed "Little Baguio," is known for its vegetable farms. Many hikers use Osmeña Peak as the starting point for a longer trek down toward Kawasan Falls in Badian.
